ABIDING MEMORIAL COMMITTEE

 NORTH PARISH CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH

UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST

 JOB DESCRIPTION

 ABIDING MEMORIAL COMMITTEE

 June 2007

The Abiding Memorial Committee receives memorial gifts to North Parish Congregational Church and implements desires of the families of the deceased on the use of the funds.

The Committee is composed of at least three (3) voting members of the Church.

A permanent record of the memorial gifts is inscribed in a special book that is kept in the church.  Thank-you cards are sent to the donors and a letter is sent to the family acknowledging the gifts.

Memorial funds shall be used to enhance the worship experience for all who attend our programs;  to promote and enhance the beauty of our church building and grounds.

The funds will not be used for regular maintenance of church property or other routine expenses.

A Memorial Board has been established to allow recognition of those within our congregation whose family and friends have made substantial and enduring gifts to the church.  The Abiding Memorial Committee will designate those honored with individual plaques.

Undesignated funds may be used for church needs within the guidelines of the Abiding Memorial Committee.

The Committee reports the status of the Abiding Memorial funds to the congregation in the Annual Report and reports to the Board of Trustees with regard to the handling of money.
